Spiral_Wall Process (Arduino + Processing)


Spiral_Wall的概念很簡單
就是想模擬像細胞膜這樣的器官
具穿透性卻清楚定義其範圍
The concept of the Spiral_Wall is pretty simple.
We want to stimulate the Cell_Membrane which is like a filter,
transparent but clear defined.

他讓養分跟水進入到戲胞模內
卻也擋掉了病毒跟細菌
It has certain rules to let the nutrition or water pass through
but also stop the virus out of the membrane


這是我們遇達成之成果模擬圖
我們用Grasshopper幫我們模擬
他將隨環境或人的動作而做牆面的改變
This is what we aim for,
the simulation of the Spiral Wall.
We use grasshopper to simulate the pattern.
it will change by the environment and movement




我們從簡單的物件開始
我們用兩個盤狀物
在特定距離下 用線將其連起來
We start with simple object.
We rotate two plates which has certain distance
and with strings connecting them


再來我們初步的製作手動的裝置
利用齒輪控制其旋轉
造成線的紋理
Then we use gearwheel to control
the rotation of the plates
The rotation of the plates control
the pattern of the strings between them



接著我們將其製作成由電腦控制之物件
透過Arduino晶片及程式撰寫控制伺服馬達
使其旋轉
放入球可改變其中心點位置
Then We use computer to control the servo motors
to change the rotation of the plates
and make the pattern.
Inserting the ball, we change
the intersect point amog the strings



支撐之材料為用雷射切割機切出來之壓克力
並用蠶絲線加以連結
The supportor are made by
Acrylic cut by Laser_Cutter.
The strings between the plates are Silk-Strings




測試完之後
我們即便製作90*60之牆面原型
共24顆伺服馬達
一片Arduino晶片
控制12支單元
形成牆面
After testing single element,
we try to put them into bigger scale
which is 90cm*60cm.
There are 24 servo motors, 1 arduino
to control 12 single elements
these 12 single ones make the Spiral_Wall
